What is REACH Compliance?

REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. It is a European Union regulation that came into force on June 1, 2007. The regulation aims to protect human health and the environment from the risks posed by chemicals. Why REACH Matters When Importing Gloves from China

How to Verify REACH Compliance from China

- Conduct a factory audit. Visit the production site and check raw material storage areas. Look for unlabeled drums or bags. Real Case Study: A Failed Shipment in 2023
In March 2023, a UK-based importer contacted me after their container of 500,000 pairs of PVC gloves was detained at Rotterdam port. The gloves were intended for a food processing customer. Customs tested a sample and found DEHP at 0.34%, exceeding the 0.1% limit. The total value of the shipment was €32,000.
I traveled to the factory in Hebei province to investigate. The factory had provided a REACH certificate issued by a local Chinese testing company that was not ISO 17025 accredited.
